Long Term Potentiation is contained within cells of the brain that interpret visual, auditory, tactile, thermal, magnetic, enviro-sensorial, environmental and mental-conscious, mental-unconscious, cognitive-memory, limbic, autonomic, and parasympathetic inputs. All these inputs are integrated by the cells in the brain implying that the neurons have intrinsically the ability to process these inputs either as a single cell or through functional centers in the brain. Just like the clouds indicate visually the thermodynamic variables of the atmosphere and reveal the intricacies of molecular interactions, behavior and physiological responses reveal the macroscopic characterization of what can be studied, but like thunder, the nanoscopic interactions that give rise to heightened neural function need thorough understanding of molecular and quantum level interactions. To this date neuroscience has focused at abilities resulting from one brain interactions and not focused at the abilities elicited when the brain interacts with other brains. Cooperativity between brains is macroscopic catalysis and should be studied at a functional level, at a cognitive behavioral level and at molecular level in humans. One of my goals to obtain a PhD in Neuroscience is to show how LTP can be demonstrated as a function of environmental responses to include cooperativity. A second goal of my PhD thesis is to show how neurons organize processes utilizing intrinsic knowledge of six-dimensional mathematics and higher dimensional mathematics. The third goal of my PhD is to integrate the field of harmonics (sound) as a mode of functional therapeutic application in the treatment of tissue specific etiologies and in the treatment of chronic systemwide illnesses and show how the body is a condensed waveform that responds positively to sound, the fifth goal is to demonstrate that physiology is eco-temporal, i.e. that physiologic response varies with the environmental stimulus presented to show that positive environments are necessary to prevent and treat illness, the sixth goal of my PhD is to develop mathematical correlations of brain algorithms that can predict analytical and compulsive behavior, the seventh goal of my PhD will be to develop liposomal solutions that are marketable for preventive treatment such as the reduction of anxiety, sleep, focused attention, and to show that these solutions can be effectively utilized to treat chronic illnesses like addiction, alzheimers, parkinsons, obesity, and other illnesses, the eighth goal of my PhD will be to characterize multidrug synergy effects at the cellular level and develop computational models of receptor functionality that are scalable into systemic functional models of neuro-physiological systems. The final goal of my PhD is to show that humans are responsive to electromagnetic and thermal fields and that these fields can be used to diagnose, treat, and prevent conditions.
My interests in Neuroscience stem from an understanding that the brain holds the secret to the unraveling of chemical interactions that make us up and surround us. Understanding how the brain works is the ultimate art of understanding how chemistry allows us to exist. I began my graduate school preparations studying organic synthetic of DNA alkylating benzodiazepines coupled to cis-platin, under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Rios in 2002. This allowed me to see how graduate work can be immediately applicable into functional solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. I then spent the summer of 2002 at the School of Agriculture at Purdue University under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Collodi and Dr. Peter Alestrom, where I learned how animal models of neurological function are studied. I specifically studied the efficiency of nuclear localization signals coupled to plasmids in the transfection of RTS cell lines.
In 2003 I joined the Drug Discovery Program at Northwestern University under the mentorship of Dr. Margarita Dubocovich where I studied melatonin modulation of circadian rhythms. I specifically worked on characterizing a novel line of Suprachiasmatic Nucleus cell receptor expression and functionality. In 2004 I studied protein crystallization methods for a new crystallography lab at the University of Puerto Rico under Dr. Jorge Rios-Steiner. For my research efforts I was recognized as a Distinguished Student of the Arts and Sciences Faculty at my home institution 2003 and 2004. I was accepted at Vanderbilt University Interdisciplinary Program to study pharmacology and neuroscience. After two years at the program I opted to pursue a second degree in chemical engineering. I rejoined the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez’s Chemical Engineering Program finishing in 2010 a degree in Chemical Engineering. My peers in the engineering program named me Perry’s Chemical Engineer.
Throughout my professional development my interests in Neuroscience were held on the availability of performing working experiments. As I worked through contracts in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors I found myself looking to develop a startup company focused on the formulation of herbal products for novel therapeutic applications. I functioned as a startup engineer to set up a large scale facility for the manufacturing of herbal products containing new formulations with the intention of taking these products to clinical trials. I worked part time on this proposition but was unable to secure funding rounds to develop manufacturing capability. What I learned from this experience was that I had the ability to lead efforts within the herbal industry to formulate, scale-up, market, and take products to the consumer arena by myself. In 2016 I joined Precision Biologics working on my own as a consultant for a herbal product’s company seeking to take East Asia herbs to clinical trials. There I improved an existing Kava (Piper methysticum) product line for flavor and stability, led efforts to take Mytragina speciosa to pre-clinical trials, networked with universities in Puerto Rico to establish a consortium to study multidrug synergy, and had a COOP program approved by the University of Puerto Rico’s Chemical Engineering program to bring students to work in formulation. I found myself pushing the state-of-the art in herbal development by my own initiative and was met with a reticent field of professionals that didn’t see technical developments as I saw them. In 2018 I moved to Colorado to work on Green Hemp Farms to develop an extraction facility for the production of CBD. I offered the company technical assistance to develop analytical methods for the purification of CBD, with the extension of formulating encapsulated products for specific etiologies. In 2018 I found the field of herbal product development for therapeutics far too young, and far too focused on short term gains.
In Colorado I worked part time for Tuxedo Corn, as a quality consultant, and found ISUN Visions, a formulation company of high-end cosmetic products. I want to join your institution to form part of a scientific community that would allow me to develop a career of scientific discovery, that would allow me to have access to state-of-the-art tools, that would allow me to develop theories and applications of brain function.
